
Jefferson County Court
is primarily responsible for hearing and disposing of felony
criminal matters. For the past several years, Judge Martusewicz has
effectively and successfully managed the heaviest caseload of any
felony judge in Upstate NY (North of NYC).
Leading other members of the court staff, he is
also responsible for certain civil matters, Pistol
Permits, Appeals from Lower Courts, Fugitive
Matters, Violations of Probation, and other
duties. He has also served as an Acting Jefferson
County Surrogate Judge and as an Acting Family
Court Judge (for Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego
Counties).

SCREENING PROCESS THAT HAS ACTUALLY DECREASED THE
NUMBER OF INDICTMENTS (Saving the Time of
Prosecutors, Counsel, Police, Staff & Grand
Jurors and Others. And Saving Taxpayer
Money).
- CREATED A DRUG COURT FOR NON-VIOLENT
DRUG AND ALCOHOL OFFENDERS (Helping to
reduce repeat offenders, improve public
safety, and decrease costs to taxpayers.
Judge Martusewicz personally wrote a
successful grant proposal that secured
federal funding for Drug Court Team Training
and Education).

EARNED AN OUTSTANDING APPELLATE RECORD
(Out of over 4700 cases handled, only
1 case Overturned/Dismissed on appeal
on speedy prosecution/trial basis and
3 cases remanded {returned to
trial court} for further proceedings.)
